ATLAS

ATLAS is one of two general purpose proton-proton colliding experiments at Large Hadron Collider, at CERN. This collider machine is the most energetic operating accelerator in the world. The designed colliding center of mass energy is 14 TeV. During Run1 the experiment collected ~5 fb-1 of data in 2011 (@ sqrt(s)=7 TeV) and ~20 fb-1 in 2012 (@ sqrt(s)=8 TeV). In Run 2 the machine increased its center of mass energy to 13 TeV and ATLAS collected a total ~149 fb-1 during the four years of data taking.

Academia Sinica is one of the collaborator of the ATLAS experiment. It has participated actively in many aspects of the experiment. These include :

  • Physics analyses in SM measurements, Higgs SUSY and Exotics searches

  • Building the optical readout for the ATLAS pixel, SCT and Liquid Argon Calorimeter

  • Hosts the ATLAS Tier 1 and Tier 2 Grid computing systems
