Our research focuses on the spectroscopic study of electronic/magnetic structures in novel quantum materials by using scanning tunneling microscope (STM) and related scanning probe microscopy techniques. For more information about our research: http://www.phys.sinica.edu.tw/~chuangtm/

We seek motivated individuals who share our research interests to join our study on the topological quantum materials. The candidate should meet the following requirements:
(1) Background in physics, electrical engineering, material science or related discipline.
(2) Intellectual curiosity and high level of personal motivation
(3) Interest and ability to design and conduct hand-on experiments.
(4) Ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with other group members.
(5) Great work ethic and time management
(6) Mandarin speaker with basic proficiency to communicate in English.

Essential functions and responsibilities of a RA include:
(1) Conduct experiment and/or develop and implement novel technique or analysis relevant to our research directions.
(2) Regular maintenance of our STM system.
(3) Perform other duties as assigned to assist our research operation.

The trainings we offer include (but not limited to)
(1) Condensed matter physics on novel materials.
(2) State-of-the-art scientific instrumentation and precision measurements,
(3) Low temperature and vacuum techniques
(4) Scientific methods, career development and communication, which are helpful for those who'd like to pursue their career in either research or industry.

The location of our lab is located in Nankang, Taipei City, Taiwan. Candidates should directly contact Dr. Tien-Ming Chuang by email with the required documents. The search will continue until the positions are filled.

Dr. Yuan-Hann Chang’s research group
In collaboration with National Central University, National Chung Hsing University, and National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center, the institute of Physics, Academia Sinica (IoPAS) seeks postdoctoral candidates with research interests in the experimental implications of detecting axion-like dark matter in the mass range of 10 to 100 ueV with a high-quality cavity and a quantum-limited amplification chain in a cryogenic system.

Successful applicants will help to develop various experimental techniques required for the axion detection project, including tunable high-quality cavities with novel designs, quantum-limited Josephson parametric amplifiers, a cryogenic system with high magnetic field, and data analysis. The IoPAS postdoctoral scholars will have access to all member institutions, providing a wide range of state-of-the-art tools to support the development of the technologies.

Dr. Tien-Ming Chuang's Lab
The position is to conduct research focused on the investigation of electronic properties and quantum phenomena of topological semimetals and topological superconductors by using low temperature scanning tunneling microscope (STM) under high magnetic field. The ideal candidate is able to operate, maintain and improve our STM and other UHV equipment, perform measurements, analyze the data and write manuscripts. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively with our international collaborators in the area of crystal synthesis, DFT calculation and material characterizations.
