Electrospinning of nanofibers (Collaborator: Prof. Nathan Swami)

Electrospinning is a straightforward, versatile, and useful technique for fabricating nanofibers from a rich variety of functional materials. Our research is focused on making biodegradable polymeric nanofiber matrices with controllable orientation for bio-scaffolds, which play key roles in the success of tissue engineering by providing a structural support, and growth guidance for cells to accommodate in the three-dimensional space. We explore different approaches to control orientations for well-defined nanofibers, in expecting that it will greatly facilitate cell growth with desired functions.
