KAGRA Kamioka Gravitational Wave Detector

KAGRA experiment

The Kamioka Gravitational Wave Detector (KAGRA), formerly the Large Scale Cryogenic Gravitational Wave Telescope (LCGT),is a project of the gravitational wave studies group at the Institute for Cosmic Ray Research (ICRR) of the University of Tokyo. It aims to be the world's first major (one with ability to actually detect a gravitational wave) gravitational wave observatory that is built underground, and the first major detector to use cryogenic mirrors. It will also be the first major gravitational wave observatory in Asia. ------Wikipedia
