Procedures vary by countries. It is suggested that you contact our officer in charge of visa and documents certification, and prepare all the necessary papers before you go to the offices for visa application and diploma/transcript notarization.

• Buying six-month insurance policy

Students who has arrived in Taiwan for 6 months are eligible to enroll in Taiwan's National Health Insurance Program (NHI). Before enrolling in NHI, students are highly suggested to buy their own insurance policy in case of any emergency.

Or, students can buy the group insurance on the university registration day at the university. See Completing the university registration Part.

If you plan to do the university health exam in Taiwan, you had better arrive in Taiwan earlier because the examination results will take 5 to 7 days. *Health Certificate for Residence Application should be completed before arriving in Taiwan.

• Expenses

The stipend does not cover the airfare. You need to prepare necessary expenses, including tuition fee, life expense, dorm fee and etc., before you receive the first month stipend (about first week of October).


Estimation: (roughly, including but not limited to)

1. Tuition: about NTD$33,000 (subject to change)
2. Dorm: NTD$5,500 * 2 months + one month deposit = NTD$16,500
3. Living expenses: about NTD$8,000 ~ 10,000 (it depends) * 2 months = NTD$16,000~20,000 or more
4. ARC: NTD$1,000/year
5. University health exam: NTD$800 - 1,000
6. Transportation fee: NTD$1,000 - 2,000
7. Miscellaneous expenses

The total suggested is around USD$3,000 or more (not including airplane ticket to Taiwan)

• Checking into TIGP Dorm

The dorm manager will inform you all necessary information. Please follow the instruction. Dorm Website
Make sure to inform the dorm manager your arrival date and time.

• Completing Nano Program registration

After settling down at the TIGP dorm, please come to the Nano Program office at P610, Institute of Physics (MAP No. 33). We will assist you to complete the necessary forms for applying Academia Sinica ID card, ARC, Post Office account, etc. You will also get documents for the university registration. Please prepare your original/official and notarized diploma and transcript, passport, and 2" photos.

You will get your student ID card after registration (foreign students will get theirs after getting ARC). Prepare the followings on the registration day: Registration Form (print out your individual form) Passport ARC (if any) Notarized diploma and transcript of the highest education degree (A4) Certificate for Residence Application Some passport-size photos Receipt of tuition payment notice NT$3,000 (the premium of group insurance, 6 months) about NT$760 (health exam fee, subject to change)

*foreign students have to pay the premium of group health insurance (about NT$3,000/6 months), except students who have bought a 6-month health insurance policy in their own country and the policy has been verified, or have lived in Taiwan for more than 6 months and already enrolled in NHI (National Heath Insurance).

• Nano Program Orientation

To make students get familiar with Nano program family and understand the graduate requirements, we arrange an orientation especially for our program's new students. This year's orientation will be held on (to be announced later).
