Title

Black Hole evaporation as a mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking

Speaker

Prof. Ivan Arraut (Institute for Data Engineering, University of Saint Joseph Macao)

Abstract

In this talk I explain why the black hole evaporation process can be perceived as a mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking, with the particle number operator playing the role of an order parameter. From this perspective the black holes are in a permanent unstable equilibrium, always looking for a new stable position. Interestingly, the Lagrangian reproducing the Hawking spectrum involves an unusual cubic term which works as the information eraser, in connection with the black hole information paradox. Finally we discuss some non-thermal modes, possibly emitted by the Black Hole.
