Title
Greenland Telescope (GLT): Imaging the Black Hole Shadow and the Photon Ring
Speaker
松下聰樹博士 (中央研究院天文及天文物理研究所) Dr. Matsushita Satoki (Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Academia Sinica)Abstract
The primary goal of the Greenland Telescope (GLT) project is to image the black hole shadows with mm/submm telescopes all over the world using the Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) technique. We have deployed the former Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) North America prototype antenna to Pituffik, Greenland, and successfully joined several VLBI observations so far, such as the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), the Global Millimeter VLBI Array (GMVA), Global VLBI (G-VLBI), and the high frequency East Asian VLBI Network (EAVN-hi). We are targeting to move the telescope to the Summit of the Greenland ice sheet to operate also at higher frequencies and better weather. In this presentation, we will present the current status and the future plan of the GLT project.
