C-theorems in BCFT and DCFT

I talk about C-theorems in boundary conformal field theory (BCFT) and defect conformal field theory (DCFT). In BCFT and DCFT, an increment of the free energy due to the boundary or the defect is conjectured to be C-functions, which are monotonic functions under RG flows. I will show concrete computations of the free energy of a conformally coupled scalar field, and check our conjecture using this simple model. This talk is based on arXiv: 1810.06995 and work in progress.
