Abstract

Unlike classical fluids, quantum electronic fluids can support propagating shear sound wave, reminiscent of the transverse sound in solids, regardless of lack of
long-range crystalline orders. By using the Landau kinetic equation, we show that this mode can present in interacting metals with the Landau parameter F1>1.
Despite this mode is very hard to detect, because of the decoupling from the charge can current operators, we show that it can be probed from the dips of AC conductance of narrow channels at resonant frequencies matching its dispersion. We propose this mode can be detected in ultra-clean 2D materials such as MgZnO/ZnO, p-GaAs and AlAs.
