Temperature dependence of nuclear response in the relativistic framework

Abstract

The atomic nucleus is a many-body quantum system of strongly interacting nucleons. Understanding the behavior of nuclear systems at finite temperature remains a great challenge in nuclear theory. An accurate description of the thermal nuclear response, especially dipole response associated with the pygmy dipole resonance (PDR) region, is of great importance for astrophysical modeling. In the present talk, a compound nucleus is modeled as a system of Dirac nucleons, which interact via effective meson-exchange at finite temperature. In-medium correlations between nucleons can be taken into account using Matsubara Green's function formalism. This formalism allows us to calculate the nuclear response to external probes and study the temperature evolution of these nuclear responses. The discussion will focus on the evolution of nuclear multipole (monopole, dipole, and quadrupole) responses and pygmy dipole resonance of the neutron-rich Ni-68 nucleus with temperature.
