Title
Exploring the Quantum-Classical Interface for Revolutionary Technologies
Speaker
Dr. Jochen Mannhart (Director) (Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, Germany)Abstract
Does nature prohibit valves to operate without driving force, i.e., to function in linear response? We have developed quantum devices that perform this task by utilizing recent advancements made at the interface between the quantum and the classical world. These advances challenge our understanding of fundamental physical laws and offer tantalizing possibilities for groundbreaking technologies. Not following well-accepted laws and rules such as the Onsager reciprocal relations [1], these new concepts enable revolutionary materials and technologies (see, e.g., [2-4]).
