Quantum computing and algorithms: an overview

Abstract

Quantum computers outperform classical computers with the virtue of parallel computing with quantum algorithms. It can be applied in many areas, including cryptography, searching an unsorted database, optimizing, simulating quantum systems, and solving linear equations. We will introduce quantum computing, including the expression of quantum states, quantum gates, and demonstrate how to implement quantum operations on IBM quantum composer. Next, we will give an overview of some well-known quantum algorithms, and the scenario of the applications. Lastly, we will present some near-term applications of quantum algorithms. Some proof-of-concept experimental implementations of quantum algorithms are discussed in this part.
