A useful model system to culture cells in 3D

Post Date:2010-08-04

Assistant Research Fellow Dr. Keng-hui Lin and her group developed a novel 3D ordered and monodisperse porous structure, also known as tissue engineering scaffold, to culture cells. The pore size is comparable to the length scale of a cell. They found that in such scaffolds cells of different cell types will organize themselves into the morphology which is similar to their native tissue morphology. It is believed that the novel and uniform scaffold can provide a useful model system to culture cells in 3D.
