Made In Taiwan! Academia Sinica Provides Key Technology for the World’s First COVID-19 Virus Detecting Microchip.

Post Date:2022-02-07

A research team lead by Dr. Chii-Dong Chen of Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica has developed Silicon Nanowire Field-Effect-Transistor (SiNW-FET) based bio-molecule sensing chips. The technology has been licensing to Molsentech, a company at the National Biotechnology Research Park, to develop the world’s first COVID-19 Virus Detecting System. The device, which provides rapid tests in only three minutes, has been granted emergency use authorization (EUA) by the Food and Drug Administration in last December (2021). Its support of rapid testing at airports and other crowded areas is a significance advance for pandemic prevention workers.
