Dr. Kung-Hsuan Lin and colleagues at our institute, in collaboration with theoretical groups at the University of Southern California and Tamkang University, have reported that exciton screening in van der Waals materials is anisotropic. As the photocarrier density increases, the energy shift of excitons—probed using in-plane and out-of-plane polarized light—exhibits distinct differences.
