Control of photoresponses in vanadium dioxide through phase manipulation

Post Date:2025-09-11

Dr. Kung-Hsuan Lin and Hao-Yu Cheng at our institute, in collaboration with the groups at National Tsing Hua University, Research Center of Applied Sciences Academia Sinica, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and National Taiwan University, reported that there are two additional phases in transient photoresponses of vanadium dioxide between the insulating phase at low-temperature and metallic phase at high-temperature. By changing the temperature or laser power, the relaxation time can be manipulated from a few tens of picoseconds to a few nanoseconds. The amplitude of the photoresponse is 5.5 fold enhanced at 68 degrees Celsius.
