Outline:
This is Classic Electrodynamics II for International Graduate Program students. The
materials to be covered are included in the book: Classic Electrodynamics by Jack
son. It is a continuation of Classic Electrodynamics I. Therefore the chapters to be
tought will mainly from the second half of the book. They are:
- Waveguides, Resoant Cavities, and Optical Fibers
- Radiating Systems, Multipole Fields and Radiation
- Scattering and Diffraction
- Dynamics of Relativistic Particles and Electromagnetic Fields
- Collisions, Energy Loss, and Scattering of Charged Particles, Cherenkov
and Tansition Radiation
- Radiation by Moving Charges
- Remsstrahlung, Method of Virtual Quanta, Radiative Beta Processes
- Radiation Damping, Classical Models of Charged Parciles
Book to be used:
Classic Electrodynamics, by J. D. Jackson. Published by John
Wiley & Son. Inc.
Assessment:
There will be homework for each chapter (account for 60% of the final grade), one middle and one final examinations (account for 40% of the final
grade).
