Advanced Analytical Chemistry (I)

Course description:

The goal of this course is to discuss some advanced separation science and technology. Most of them are referred from the recently published literatures of the analytical journal. Some topics concerning the green chemistry will also be introduced. The contents are as the following:

(I) Green chemistry-Properties and application of cleaning solvents

  1. Supercritical fluid
  2. Ionic liquid

(II) Sample pretreatment techniques

  1. Microwave sample digestion technique
  2. Microwave assisted extraction
  3. Accelerated solvent extraction
  4. Solid phase extraction
  5. Solid phase microextraction
  6. Supercritical fluid extraction
  7. Microdialysis

(III) Separation methods: overview of analytical separations

  1. Affinity chromatography
  2. Size exclusion chromatography
  3. Principle and theory of electrophoresis: capillary zone electrophoresis; capillary isoelectric focusing; capillary gel electrophoresis; micellar electrokinetic chromatography; microemulsion electrokinetic chromatography; capillary electrochromatography.
  4. Field flow fractionation
