2005 Taiwan Summer Symposium on Statistical and Nonlinear Physics (StatPhys-Taiwan-2005), to be held from 31 July to 6 August 2005 follows previous meeting in 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2002, and 2004 with the 1993 and 1995 symposiums sponsored by International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) and the 1997 and 2002 symposiums by the Asia-Pacific Center of Theoretical Physics (APCTP). Further information about this series of meetings can be found at http://www.sinica.edu.tw/~statphys/. Proceedings of the Symposiums have been published in the Physica A. The topics of the 2005 symposium include lattice phase transition models, dynamic critical phenomena, biological evolution, biological macromolecules, Brownian motor, immune system, neuron network and synchronization, protein folding, systems biology, econophysics, etc. The symposium will be held at the Institute of Physics of Academia Sinica, Taipei on 31 July-3 August and at Chung-Yuan Christian University on 4 August-6 August.

The scientific program of the
SYMPOSIUM consists of invited review talks (45-60 min. each), seminars talks (20-30 min. each), contributed talks (15 min. each), and poster presentations. Since 2005 is world year in physics, some well established scientists will be invited to give review talks on some problems in statistical and nonlinear physics, which have made important progress in the past decades; some creative young scientists will also be invited to give talks on problems which could have important developments in the near future.

The meeting site will provide E-mail, fax, and copying services. The Organizing Committee will arrange a tour to the National Palace Museum in Taipei in the afternoon of 31 July which boasts the best collection of ancient Chinese arts in the world. The Organizing Committee will also arrange a tour to the Chu-Ming Museum in the morning of 4 August.
