The 20th Spring School on Particles and Fields Apr. 1-4, 2007 National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan http://www.phys.sinica.edu.tw/~ss2007 The First Bulletin The 20th Taiwan Spring School on Particles and Fields will be held at Department of Physics, National Taiwan University, Taipei during April 1-4, 2007. This series of schools has had a long tradition with the first one being organized by Prof. Chien-Er Lee at Shi-Tou in 1986. The purpose is to introduce to graduate students recent progress on important and hot topics in particles and fields. 1. Conference site The school will be held at the lecture hall of the first floor of Physics Department, National Taiwan University. 2. Invited lecturers Prof. Luca Amendola, INAF/Osservatorio Astronomico di Roma, Cosmology Prof. Andre de Gouvea, Northwestern University, Neutrino Physics Prof. Gary Shiu, University of Wisconsin, String Phenomenology Prof. Xerxes Tata, Hawaii University, Supersymmetry The program can be found from the school website. 3. References for reading Links to useful references for the subjects covered in this school have been made at the school website. Students are urged to read them before attending the school. 4. Registration information The on-line registration will be opened on Feb. 01, 2007. Hotel and room type for accommodation can be selected directly. The conference registration desk will be located outside the lecture hall. There is registration fee for all participants. 5. Accommodation Students will be mainly accommodated at the guest house of National Taiwan University without charge. Additional accommodation will be provided at the guest house of Academia Sinica, if necessary. Faculty members and postdocs will be arranged at the Howard Hotel near the school site, and pay for the accommodation by themselves. 6. Reception and banquet Reception will be held in the evening of Apr. 1, 2007. The location will be announced later. Banquet will be held at the Howard Hotel in the evening of Apl. 3, 2007. 7. Internet access There is a wireless connection inside the lecture hall. 8. Lunch and snacks Free lunch boxes will be provided during the school. Snacks and drinks will be provided at breaks. 9. Visa Citizens of the following countries can enter and stay in Taiwan for up to 30 days without a pre-approved visa (but should hold passports with validity of atleast 6 months) : Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands , New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. and U.S.A. . Citizens of Czech Republic, Hungary , Poland and Slovak can obtain a landing visa and stay in Taiwan for up to 30 days. Visitors from other countries should have a valid visa before departure. 10. Currency One US dollar is about 32 New Taiwan Dollars. 11.
