Special IPAS fund in support of NCTS |
|
This special fund was proposed by the former president of Academia Sinica, Prof. Yuan-Tze Lee, in 2003, the year when National Center for Theoretical Sciences (NCTS) entered her second phase under the planning of National Science Council. Its purpose is to strengthen the function of the Physics Division of NCTS, especially focusing on invitations of well-established scholars to visit research institutes in Taiwan and to promote exchange and collaboration related to theoretical physics. This fund is open to applications from the whole physics community. To promote international academic exchange and possible collaboration, the special IPAS fund will support limited numbers of speakers to participate international conferences and workshops that are organized and held in Taiwan. The support will cover the airfare and living expenses. The total number of invited speakers per year will be limited to about 4 to 5 according to the current budgetary constraint. Based on the scale of the meetings as well as their scientific impact, the program committee will decide the final number of visitors for the year. For those meetings supported by this special fund, they should acknowledge explicitly their support by this program; and the invited speakers are also expected to give presentations in other universities or research institutes within Taiwan to further promote knowledge exchange during his or her visit.
An applicant should send a cover letter and CV to Prof. Cheng,Hai Yang ( phcheng@phys.sinica.edu.tw) and carbon copy to cc the secretary Ms. Teng, Shu-Yin (peggy@phys.sinica.edu.tw) via email. The cover letter should briefly mention the expected interaction of the invited visitor with our local community and outline his (her) itinerary. |
