Title
Introduction to neutron scattering experiments with our new cold triple axis spectrometer SIKA
Speaker
Dr. Shin-ichiro Yano (National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center)Abstract
For many years the triple-axis spectrometer has been utilised by for neutron scatters to study many areas of condensed matter physics. With cold neutrons, a triple-axis spectrometer has the capability to investigate physical phenomena with high energy and momentum resolution. Whilst time-of-flight spectrometry is advanced at spallation neutron sources, the cold triple-axis spectrometer has advantages of scanning S(Q, ω) space at each reciprocal point, measuring critical scattering, availability of a number of well adapted items of sample environment, and so on.
We NSRRC neutron group installed a new cold neutron triple-axis spectrometer at OPAL reactor in ANSTO. The components, capabilities, sample environment, software, statistics, and commissioning experiments are presented in this talk. I will explain what kinds of physics you can do with our new instrument SIKA. I look forward to welcoming users to promote neutron science in Taiwan.
