Abstract

When sensorimotor networks in human brain stop exciting, namely, they get into the resting state, a group of other brain regions switch into exciting state from their quiescent state. These distributed networks are called default mode networks (DMN). No consensus has been obtained on the mechanism of such state transition. Now we set up a neural network model with Hindmarsh-Rose neurons at the nodes of a small world network, by adjusting parameters of neurons in the range of experiments we get a quiescent state of the neural cluster, then we get an exciting state when we cut off only one current injection to a random chosen neuron in the network. In this way, we have simulated the ignition of a cluster of DMN without global connections between different brain regions.
