Opening a new window with Gravitational Wave Physics in Taiwan

Abstract

LIGO’s discovery of Gravitational Wave (GW) marked an opening of a new era of GW astronomy.
In order to explore the new physics under the extreme gravity condition and eventually challenge the Einstein’s
theory of gravity in high precision, accurate calibration of the GW form is essential.
Our group in AS IoP is currently working in calibration subsystem of KAGRA to achieve this important goals.
KAGRA is Japan-based GW detector which employ new technologies such as underground location
and cryogenic mirror suspension system and will provide essential contribution to the world wide GW network.
Development and improvement of photon calibrator is also a challenge in KAGRA as well as future GW detectors network.
The photon calibrator can push the mirror surface with photon pressure. Therefor, we can cross-calibrate the absolute displacement by comparing the absolute laser power of each photon calibrator. We newly start the cross-calibration study between each world wide GW detector.
In this talk, we report the progress of the KAGRA calibration in order to achieve the accuracy of several %.
