Another Twist in Graphene: Tuning Electron Playgrounds with Electricity

刊登日期:2024-04-30

Twisted bilayer graphene, an innovative material formed by slightly misaligning two graphene layers, has unlocked new avenues in the research of quantum materials. In a recent publication in 2D Materials, Hao-Chien Wang and Chen-Hsuan Hsu at the IoP have proposed manipulating the electronic properties of this material through the application of electrical biases. This technique allows for the in-situ tuning of electron interactions within the graphene layers, potentially leading to the development of more efficient electronic devices capable of conducting electricity without resistance. This research outcome not only enhances our understanding of correlated electron behaviors in low dimensions but also opens up exciting possibilities for creating advanced electronics.
