Notarizing your highest degree and applying for visa

Procedures vary by countries. It is suggested that you contact our officer in charge of visa and documents certification, and prepare all the necessary papers before you go to the offices for visa application and diploma/transcript notarization.

Buying six-month insurance policy

Students who has arrived in Taiwan for 6 months are eligible to enroll in Taiwan's National Health Insurance Program (NHI). Before enrolling in NHI, students are highly suggested to buy their own insurance policy in case of any emergency.

Or, students can buy the group insurance on the university registration day at the university. See Completing the university registration Part.

Health examination for the registration

For the registration, all new students have to take the health examination required by the university, and all foreign students have to do one more exam: Health Certificate for Residence Application.

For NTU students (Physics and Chemistry)

health exam forms: 1. Instructions for the NTU Health Exam and Health Exam Form 2. Health Certificate for Residence Application*  Foreign students need to complete both exams yourselves before the registration. If you plan to do the university health exam in Taiwan, you had better arrive in Taiwan earlier because the examination results will take 5 to 7 days.  Please consider this before you book your flight; Health Certificate for Residence Application should be completed before arriving in Taiwan

For NTHU students (ESS)

health exam forms: 1. NTHU New Student Health Examination Notice and form 2. Health Certificate for Residence Application*  The unversity health examination will be done in the campus on September 7, 2023. Certificate for Residence Application should be completed before arriving in Taiwan.

※all foreign students should complete "Certificate for Residence Application" before arriving in Taiwan. Thus, if you are planning to have your examination in your country, be sure that the examining items include the those that each university requires.

Expenses

The stipend does not cover the airfare. You need to prepare necessary expenses, including tuition fee, life expense, dorm fee and etc., before you receive the first month stipend (about first week of October).

Estimation: (roughly)

Tuition: about NTD$33,000 (subject to change)

Dorm: NTD$5,500 * 2 months + one month deposit = NTD$16,500

Living expenses: about NTD$8,000 ~ 10,000 (it depends on you) * 2 months = NTD$16,000~20,000

ARC: NTD$1,000/year

The total suggested is around USD$2,500 or more (not including airplane ticket to Taiwan)

Checking into TIGP Dorm

The dorm manager will inform you all necessary information. Please follow the instruction. Dorm Website 

Make sure to inform the dorm manager your arrival date and time (dorm address).

Completing Nano Program registration

After settling down at the TIGP dorm, please come the Nano Program office at P610, Institute of Physics (MAP). We will assist you to complete the necessary forms for applying Academia Sinica ID card, ARC, Post Office account, etc. You will also get documents for the university registration. Please prepare your original/official and notarized diploma and transcript, passport, and 2" photos.

For NTU students (Physics and Chemistry)

New Graduate Student Registration Guidelines 1. On the reigstration day: all students, the on campus registration is on September 7 (Thursday). You will get your student ID card after registration (foreign students will get theirs after getting ARC). Prepare the followings on the registration day: Registration Form (print out your individual form) Passport ARC (if any) Notarized diploma and transcript of the highest education degree (A4) Notarized Certificate for Residence Application Some passport-size photos Receipt of tuition payment notice NT$3,000 (the premium of group insurance, 6 months) * about NT$760 (health exam fee)

* On the registration day, foreign students have to pay the premium of group health insurance (about NT$3,000/6 months), except students who have bought a 6-month health insurance policy in their own country and the policy has been verified, or have lived in Taiwan for more than 6 months and already enrolled in NHI (National Heath Insurance).

Students who fail to do so will not get their student ID card, and it may result that they can not apply for their ARC and open a bank account.

Nano Program Orientation

To make students get familiar with Nano program family and understand the graduate requirements, we arrange an orientation especially for our program's new students. This year's orientation will be held on (to be announced later).

TIGP Orientation and Welcome Party

• 2023 TIGP Ethics Course: Nov 4 - mandatory course for the newly accepted TIGP students.
